Check the wagering requirement

Start by finding the wagering requirement. This is the number of times you must play through the bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings. For example, a 35x requirement on an RM100 bonus means you need to wager RM3,500 in total. Lower numbers are better.

Many sites list this in the terms and conditions under a heading like 'rollover' or 'playthrough'. If the number is not stated clearly, consider that a red flag. A requirement above 40x is considered high for a cashable bonus, meaning you will need a large sum of bets to convert it.

Look at the minimum deposit amount

Every welcome bonus comes with a minimum deposit to qualify. This amount is often between RM20 and RM50, but it can vary. Check that your preferred e-wallet or bank transfer method supports this minimum. If you deposit less, you will not receive the bonus at all.

The platform may also cap the bonus based on your deposit. For instance, a 100% match up to RM200 means depositing RM100 gives you RM100 extra. Depositing RM200 still only gives RM200 extra. Always confirm the cap before funding your account.

Identify which games count

Not all games contribute equally toward the wagering requirement. Slots usually count 100%, while table games like blackjack or baccarat may count only 10% or even 0%. If you prefer live dealer games, check the terms carefully because many bonuses exclude them entirely.

Some sites also exclude specific game titles or providers. Look for a list of excluded games in the terms. Betting RM100 on a game that counts 10% only moves RM10 toward your wagering target. That can make clearing the bonus very slow and costly.

Read the expiry period

Welcome bonuses do not last forever. The terms will state how many days you have to meet the wagering requirement. Typical periods are 7, 14, or 30 days from the date the bonus is credited. If you do not complete the playthrough in time, the bonus and any winnings may be forfeited.

Mark the expiry date on your calendar or note it in your phone. For a high wagering requirement, a short expiry period could be impossible to satisfy with a small bankroll. Choose a bonus that gives you enough time to play through the amount comfortably.

Confirm whether withdrawals are allowed

Some welcome bonuses lock your deposit and bonus funds until you complete the wagering requirement. This means you cannot withdraw your own money during that time. Look for a term that says 'bonus funds and deposit are non-withdrawable until wagering is met'.

Other sites allow you to request a withdrawal of your deposit only, but this usually cancels the bonus and any pending winnings. If you think you might need to withdraw unexpectedly, consider a no-deposit bonus or a low-rollover offer. Read this clause even if you plan to play for a while.
